My passion for mathematics developed for years in high school. From the beginning of the senior year, I started volunteering to work as a math tutor after school three days a week. Over time, the volunteer work seeded my interest in mathematics. When helping other students with their math problems, I really enjoyed what I was doing. The students’ need for help strongly motivated me to find every possible method that would give them a better and clearer understanding of a concept, a formula, or a particular problem in the book. Sometimes I did feel stressed out and frustrated on the job because I was not able to provide the students a decent explanation that they could easily understand.
